Alright guys, I'd like to build a shavings mill for a little extra animal bedding on the farm here. I'd like to know where to find a suitable head to use, preferably insertable carbide. I'd don't need killer production, maybe 2-3 yards of shavings a day and I could let it run while I'm doing other things. I use sawdust from my sawmill when I've got it, but it's not always enough. I'd like a box around 18"- 2 foot wide. I'm pretty sure I've got enough junk around here to build the rest of it but I really don't feel like trying to fab up my own cutterhead. If anyone else has done this I'd really like to hear about it. Thanks in advance.

any progress on your idea? I have a couple customers for shavings from my planer, I could sell more easily if I had a shavings mill for my slabs

No I haven't been able to locate anything that's up to the task. Apparently shavings mills arnt very high on the "list of things to build" for most ppl. Maybe I'll run into the perfect head for one at some auction one day..
