I have and oppurtunity to take down a very large cotton wood tree 65" dbh 120' tall. But my bucket won't reach and I have no equipment or skills to climb it myself. If anyone with quite a bit of experience in large removals is willing to travel to southern Minnestoa I would like to hire a climber for a day. How much is the going rate for a 8-10 hour day?

The thing is this tree has a few rotten limbs and a hole rotted into the center of the trunk but I don't believe that the tree is in danger of falling. I would climb it myself if I knew how. If anyone is interested I can take some pics and try to post them. I can handle everything after it is on the ground and I have saws large enough to cut everything. This job isn't a for sure thing yet just trying to see if I can find someone to climb it before I tell the customer I can handle it.

There are two freelance climbers I know from this site that live in your neck of the woods. Unfortunately, John Paul Sanborn is on the west coast right now on a road trip and Tom Dunlap is in England on a working vacation.

I can't speak for other guys but going rates for an insured subcontract freelance climber should be about $300-$400 per day. I usually get $200-$300 per day but pay scales are a lot lower here in Florida. And a day for me is usually 6-7 hours tops (I usually don't need more time than that to finish the job).

thanks for the rates and names of guys in my area it is fine that they are gone for awhile now because the yards are mush right now anyhow.

You can find their profiles in the member list and email them. Between the two of them they probably know almost all the best climbers in the twin cities area (as well as others across the country).

I'd Love to Do It....

I'd love to do it!! How far are you from the Carolinas? Big removals is what I love. Thanks BB
:D

I will try to get some pictures this weekend if I get by there it is an hour away from me.

Mapleton MN is about 3 hours away from the border of WI along I-90.
