Please move or tell me the proper forum if this does not fit here.

I'd like to try milling my own wood vs buying from the mill. I'm interested in Maple, Cherry, Walnut or ???, not interested in Oak or Ash. I'd be interested in talking to a couple local services who may come upon a tree here and there that may make a good candidate for milling. I'm looking to start in April. I would need you to deliver, we can work out a fee. If interested send me a PM or Email [email protected] I'm located in Mequon.

Thanks,

I think Jerry Smith is around $90 a cord for hardwood logs, delivered. He has a log truck that could put it in your yard.

Nichols and Cutting Edge would need you to do retrieval, neither have loaders. Kinda like Catalpa (Erick V.) down the road from you, they cannot get large logs off the properties.

Also, you've limited your species so much that you will need a wide array of providers. If you run with a $70-90/cord value, you may get a few people that will take care of you.

You are competing with all the boiler operators out there in the boonies now. Even willow gets a good trip charge for round wood.

Thanks John

I'll also check with Gyula from North Shore. Also keep me in mind if you hear of anyone doing lot clearings. I'll also check with M&M but I think they keep everything for firewood.

M&M does, but I think thy would go for the 70-90/cord of round wood. Try Dorshack, try to talk to Myron.

If I were you I might try a form letter to all the companies in the immediate area. The you can tell them the minimum small-end diameter and other criteria you may have.

Thought I would re-list this for the new year. I'm interested in Silver or Sugar, Black Maple, Walnut, Cherry. Here is one of the latest tables.
