i was just curious how other people that sell wood how do you get it to where you split it up or cut it up or stack it . we take both of our trucks out a chevy and a ford(with racks) and we go through the boonies to find it and cut it up then bring it home and split it then stack it .

another company

hook up with another company that deals with wood. i teamed up with a land clearing outfit and i get a volume discount for logs. 8 cords per truck and all limed and dropped where and when i want it. 80-110 pending his trucking costs from the logs location/type of wood on load always atleast mixed hardwood. but ill pay 100 per cord all 24'' and under red oak rather then run around and find it.

The very small company I work for gives me all I can cut. He has an 8 or 10 acre yard where we unload logs from clearing operations. I like to do the cutting there and transport to my lot for splitting. I would rather split at his lot but have no safe storage for my Timber Wolf yet so I split at my place.

As sloth9669 said, it's good to team up with someone. In another life I hauled diesel fuel to several customers who were loggers. I would do them favors when I could like working on their equipment (trucks & trailer), help change tires, take some cold drinks when I went or maybe simply a fresh baked box cake. Things like this do not go unnoticed. For my effort they provided me with cull logs which I would work into firewood.

Today I'm blessed with a business beside my lot that sells produce and plants. I give him wood to use in his small store & green house. In return he has a key to my gate and handles the selling of most my wood. Again, like sloth9669 said, team up with someone. Be nice to people and they will be nice to you.

Call all your local tree services and leave them your phone number. Often times they just want to get the job done and get paid and so they gladly let someone show up and load the wood so they dont have to pay their guys to touch it. Not always. I take all the wood from jobs that i can get the trucks right up to or reasonably close to. If the wood is in an odd spot i call a guy or two that runs a firewood business and leave him the address to come get it that night.
This year however, all my job wood goes back to my yard. I need to generate as much income as I can each winter and every cord helps.
