Hey guys, Just a little info for any wc17 chipper owners. I replaced a clutch in my chipper about a year ago and it went out again. I think failure was due to pilot bearing. Anyway, I contacted Altec and they wanted 372.00 for clutch kit. Really all I needed was a disc but I don't think they sell that separately. So figuring I could find one local I went to Napa, but they couldn't find one with the right size splined shaft diameter. So I came home and started taking measurements. Started searching the internet and low and behold I found out this clutch fits Older ford tractors from 1939 on up into the 50s. These are the model numbers that this clutch fits. I'm not sure of the exact years of chippers this fits. Mine is 2000. ( 9" clutch 1 3/8" inside diameter 10 spline)

I found complete clutch kits from 80.00 and up. Exact same clutch as original WC17. Hope this help somebody in the future. I can understand a markup on products, but damn, that's a little ridiculous.
