How many of you guys have your tree businesses online via web-page. If so do you think it is worth it? What percentage of customers say they have seen it or got your number from that? Do you think it is worth it to maybe help seperate yourself from some of the so called "hacks"?

My business does not have a site yet, but we plan on developing one. In my opinion it definitely sets you apart from the majority of the hanyaks (sp?). It suggests that you're somewhat progressive in thought. Its also a great place to lay out your company's philosophy on tree care and offer some information on what proper tree care practices are (i.e. no topping, no spikes on prunes, insurance, etc).

i think just having a website to put on biz cards and letterhead is a plus. i don't think it has to score cold calls to be worth it; but that can be another plus.

i think you'd be hard pressed to get as much space to advertise and show anything you wanted for the cost of a website. i think it can sell or explain other options to present customers, and also give you a reason to contact a bunch of old clients just to announce. Especially if after all that stirring the pot; you got a sharp site with helpful content and links to other places for alternate explanations etc. all in shining goodwill.

For those that post pix especially on the forums; it gives yet another use for your completed efforts and turn what you give away to us into a growing collection of advertising of what you do. Then ya tend to do more pix and better; as you get more out of them and they have more permanence(?) i think.

Websites are great for your business. You can advertise your site on your cards, and ads. My website has a form to request a quote on the first page. Make it easy for your customers to contact you. My web site hosting, and domain name is only $25. per year (doteasy.com)

95% of my business is web based only. The other 5% is referral. No Print Advertising

Me too. I have a cheap newspaper ad but that's about it. Everything else is on 2 websites. www.yellowdogservices.com and www.brushchipping.com

My answering machine directs customers who call to the website in case someone calls from the newspaper or referral.
