Weeping Pine

I live on Long Island in New York. I have a weeping pine and there are worm cocoons all over it, They are wrapping thier cocoons around the pine needles and killing the tree. Has anyone ever heard of this and what should I use to get rid of them before they succeed in killing the tree. Any help will be very much appreciated. Thanks in advance! Liz

Sounds like bagworms, but a pic would be helpful

Easier than posting a picture here the first time is to physically remove the pest.
