Naw, they are never ruff on newbies. I started a little while ago, and I was welcomed openly. No one was ever quick to answer, or ruff in their answers.

Anyway, just keep an open mind, don't get your undies in a wad, and you will love this site. Once you get the feel for people, you will know what to take seriously.

I have learned a great deal, and if you ever say something, and you get jumped on, then believe me, they are just tryin to help.

Welcome, pull up a chair!

FIRSTIMECLIMBER,

Hey, although I'm new to this forum, I'm not exactly new to the site. I came on here yesterday as a new forum member with perhaps more than a little old "baggage" and everyone's been great with me.

Welcome!

Stinkin' newbie. Come over here and I'll knock a knot on your head!..................... NOT!

Welcome Firstimer!:D

Actually, thats the way yur supposed to do it! I don't think this is FTC's first time in a forum, eh?

If yur into metal and ropes, theres a lotta help here. And if ya wanna do it all (almost all) with just manila, you can get that to!:)

So, what saddle do you use?

Give him a break Butch, just 'cause he turns out to be a progressive climber doesn't mean he rides side-saddle.:p

we dig newbies

Welcome in, FirstTime. You've just entered a portal where a bunch of guys, doing basically the same thing, come at it from all different perspectives.

Strap yourself in. This ride could take awhile. -TM-

Newbi I shook for the first 4 years dude. Id climb tall trees and my gut would just wrench. Ittook pratice& time to put the emotion in its proper place. Where it should be, out of my mind.
My mind should be clear and focused to check, recheck, and double check whats going on.

Hey I heard that John.
I'm teaching the second person In my life how to climb. Today we climbed DRT His first footlocking the rope and did great. Short 30 foot climbs . We worked slow and low for the techniques and to get the fun d mentals down. I kept him on bely at all times.

I dunno, but anybody who feels thataway might have a hard time getting into climbing. In fact, if an apprentice were to tell me that, I would have doubts about training them.

No dis on you TH01, it just seems odd. I was rearing to get up a tall tree from the beginning, and always felt comfortable up there- LOVED IT! I've even fallen asleep aloft waiting on the L&P guy to show up.

Anyway, what I'm trying to say is I DON'T think it is normal to have those feelings. Other than a few occasional moments, maybe, when your in a hairy spot, but thats it.

One should be at peace up there, enjoying the moment, and TCOB! ;)

I took a fall yes when I was a cable tech I fell off a phone pole surprised by a squirrel. It wasn't very far I was on my way up the pole.

I have been at least 30 feet up there.
