Every get called out to a property where they want tree work and the trees are already very, very groomed and picked clean???

I walked around and thought - so what do you need me out here for??

Bongo bucks super ultra gated community.

I have some clearance issues to work on there but all else is very, very groomed.

I was a rec from a high end customer (jet set). I figure they are keeping up with the jones. Buying something whether they need it or not.

My plan is to go there, do good work on what needs to be done, nit pick for a day or 2 and bill high. They have a percieved need for a service so I plan on delivering a high level of service whether they need it or not. If I tell them everything is fine, even if I spell it out in writing, that they don't need a tree service, they need a psychiatrist or a friend - they will just find another tree service.

Just feels odd, but I need the cashola. I will re-evalute again in sept when I return to TX.

What do you do in these situations??

Sounds like the "other guys" were thrown off the property for a reason other than quality of work. <Nudge nudge...find out who, why etc.>

I would educate the the client/property manager on what needs to get done (not what you can do to make a buck). Get the maintenance history of the property and the owners likes/dislikes to offer an educated opinion/s. Naturally charge top dollar or they will not think your a pro ( I assume you are a pro ) and build a longterm relationship with your new client. Quality work, service, and honesty can go a longway in exclusive neighborhoods.

Personel and equipment should be reliable and capable of any work you plan to do etc........

Good Luck and be safe

Do it Nate.

Rich people need to spend more money to keep America running. Better you get it than an offshore shelter or a religious scam or Hummer dealer.

WE're a spending/buying culture and not much else matters.

What I've done the few times this has come up is expalin we will climb survey each tree for soundness and remove any deadwood as needed.

Do you have a site map listing each tree?

Then we will provide you with that

We can descreately tag each tree with a number to better maintain the inventory.....

JPS - that is the page I was looking for. Thanks

More to this service than just cutting. ;)

Mind if I bite on your rhymes?

I've had customers with trees like that - kinda brings nitpicking to a whole new level.

However, its amazing how much dead you can find once you get up there!
