I live in Northern California and have milled a very few logs. Mostly cedar, juniper, pine and a couple Blue Oak and ash. I'm wondering of you millers out west, what kind of hardwoods are you milling, what are you using it for and what kind of experience have you had with it. I know our hardwoods are nothing like the luck guys back east. Around here its hard to find an oak with even one straight 8' log. Still, I know we have big leaf maple, alder, ash, bay, several oaks, madrone and several others. What are you doing with this stuff?
