Trimmed a mango tree today. I was rather shocked when I saw the mango tree next door to my customer. I had trimmed that same mango tree a few years ago, but the owner apparently thought I did not "cut it low enough" so he hired a different tree company this time. This tree, along with the row of citrus trees, was "pruned" three days ago.

I wonder what people think when they see two neighbors side by side, with mango trees trimmed 3 days apart, by two different companys with obviously different ideas of what constitutes pruning. My customer also wanted his tree "trimmed as low as possible" without hurting the tree.

Here are the before (well almost) and after pictures. I think I may have them reverse order.

i had a nosy neighbor this week tell me that he thought i ripped off a senior citizen ,he said i hadn't reduced the tree enough ,basically he called me a con man , the local tree officer went around and told the customer and nosy neighbor that i had done a superb job with very sympathetic pruning and at a reasonable price...sorry to go off subject slightly but your like me koa a professional you did a great job ,let the neighbor with his butchered tree's go to hell,

That is a superb job. I have had similar situations. I gave a price to crown clean a large oak and remove one or two low half dead limbs but the customer just was not happy. He wanted this beautiful tree cut in half. He didn't want to hear that it would kill his tree. I still haven't heard back from him. I refused to top it and explained why so I guess we'll see.

Thanks for the kinds words guys. Erik, Nickrosis has been trying to get all kinds of personal information about me....name, address etc. I think it is because he wants to send me money. :p Anyway, my name is Wesley Jay and like Stumper stated, Leon is aka Rumination. Still haven't met that guy yet, hey Leon, we need to work on some jobs together.....I know you have a regular job with the state or city, but weekend maybe?

koa as were on the subject of exotic tree's do you have /grow Tamarind tree's in Hawaii ,i'm at present tucking into a bowl of sweet tamarind from Thailand and reading your thread got me wondering,ps a few tamarinds are good for a sore throat but too many can cause a sore throat so a little old indian women told me ;)

ROLLACOSTA,
We have some tamarind here, not very common. Very rarely get to trim any. My cousin has a huge tamarind in his yard, about 5 ft. dia. trunk and around 70 ft. tall, but he lives on a different island. Many woodworkers here like to use them. Also makes excellent chopping blocks.

Nickrosis,
You are supposed to ask for my SSN on the other thread, where I gave you my name and address. But no worry, I'll PM you my SSN, birth date and mother's maiden name. Will that help? :D
