Finally got back out grinding again after a month of sitting on my a$$ waiting for wrist infection to clear up. Set up a few small jobs to get myself back into groove. First job went nice and easy, Second job as I got out of truck my jeans caught the door and ripped down my leg. Did not put extra clothes bag back in truck so all I had were INSULATED bib overalls under the back seat. Temp and humidity topped out at 90 here today so they felt really good. Almost finished with second job and ground into a underground beehive.
Neighbor had a good laugh watching me run around the yard drenched in sweat wearing INSULATED bibs flailing myself from bees.
Ended up with 2 stings, one near my bad wrist:angry: Finished off job, got paid and went home. Will get other job tomorrow.
Hope it is a better day:rolleyes:

Some may consider that a good thang Mike

hey Dadatwins at least you know there will be a better day;)

bees/bugs

Days like that make the good days seem even better. My worst day 28 stings, knocked a much larger than a football size nest down. My back was swollen up and itchy for days after. Didn't even see it till it landed on me. I look the trees over with a lot more of an eye for those things now days. The yellow jackets with the in-ground nests are the ones you step on and before you even know they are there you get hit 6 or 7 times from the ankle to the knee cap.
I'd say you were lucky not to be stung more. Take it easy till you're back in the swing of things.

They don't like outriggers, neither...

Oh, to vent, ...

..., dah, did dumb thing and put my climbing saw out of being.

While clining up 200 year old oak, and also directing clean up of under story of this semi-forest grandy, I had to come back down and assit a new groundie in taking down a small maple. Only, 10" dia, well it was a quick task, especially after reading all the great insights here,:D Well, did a notch, made the cut, and nothing! Looked up and saw these big vines connect to a branch in the oak above.

Dumb, I thought if I can get under, ....... Ah, the saw is jamed.

Cut the vine above, tree fell fine, and the butt got the saw. I hate it when I'm stupid, is there a pill I can take?

Sorry for all the dribble, and thanks I feel better now:p

I spent the day climbing the trees, dropping the tops, come down and notch em, carry the wood out, buck it up and pile it and then a bit of raking to top it off. We just finished putting everything away when the customer came up with another "add-on. " When he seen the look on my face he asked if I had had enough for the day. I gave some cocky answer that there's no such thing and then backed the boom truck into one of his trees ripping a 1' by 1.5' piece of bark off. After that I was pretty sure that I had enough for the week, never mind the day.:(

The forecast is for thundershowers tommorrow so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. There's nothing better that a guilt free day off.:)

Jack, next time you get into a situation like that, take the powerhead out of the equation. So what if you need a new bar and/or chain? The powerhead is the most expensive part.

Bee be gone!

Last fall I was cutting a tall stump down to size to speed up my grinding time. The middle felt soft and was easy to cut through. I didn't pay to much attention to it at the time and thought I'll be done sooner! I soon found out what that soft spot in the middle was...a big nest of ticked off BEES!!! They got me real good and was I steemed  . It was starting to get dark and the bees had settled down for the night. Thats about the time I poured a coffee can full of chainsaw gas into the middle of their stump and tossed a match at them. It blew the nest about 12' in the air (kinda like a morter), it was all on fire and you could hear them snap-crackle & pop as the flames touched them!!! A funny thing happened just then ... my bee stings didn't hurt so much. :p I didn't get to mad, I just got even! So dadatwins, I hope my little story finds in good health and maybe put a smile on your face :D , all the best to ya.
