Hey guys, I got this bar with an 090 some time ago. Didn't think much of it. However, based on a verbal description, I was told this may be a reconditioned Cannon bar. The bar is unique enough in that the replaceable tip attaches like no other I've ever seen.

There are absolutely no markings on it whatsoever other than the .404 on the tip.

The only reason I'm asking is that I would like to replace the tip. This one isn't attached very well and the rivets are loose.

Thats an Oregon tip.You can buy rivets only because tip looks good from here.I think those kind of tips are no longer avalaible,at least here in Canada.

Production of the tips stopped about 3 years ago. Production of the OREGON branded bars that used the tips stopped about 10 years ago. Cannon was the only bar manufacturer making bars to fit the tips. You might talk with Cannon to see if they have another source for those tips.

I second Octane in saying the tip itself looks fine and could simply be re-riveted. Just my two cents.

That is a Oregon (SS or SR) tip.I can get them NIB. Judging buy the depth of the belly on that bar I guess it would be a Cannon.

Well that is definately an oregon tip. Why would cannon make a good bar and then put an oregon tip on it?

I can get you a couple of those tips from my amish dealer, but they are only in 3/8".

Most all Cannon bars had/has Oregon tips.I do belive they are getting new tips from another vender now. Not forsure though?

Just read up on the other cannon thread. On and off topic, what is the difference in the older oregon SS and SR tips? I have a couple new old stock bars that has that style 3 rivet tip, but am not sure if it is a SS or SR tip.

What are the amish charging? I see them on the web for around $14.00.As far as what the SS and SR stand for not sure what the difference is, maybe SR is .375 and SS is .404 ???

SR/Ss

The Oregon bar tips in question are...
SR 1.26" nose radius part# 21376 for 3/8"-12, 23278 for .404"-11
SS 1.15" nose radius part #25556 for 3/8"-11 .050", 25564 3/8"-11 .058" & .063", 25572 .325"-12 .050", 25581 .325"-12 .058" & .063"

I have the same tip on a 60" General bar for the 090 as well as on new Oregon bars. They are still around.
