Kia Ora climbers. I am an overseas climber with 9 years experience in both residential and utility tree work who has a j visa for the USA. My wife is studying for 5 years in ct and I will be looking for work. Before I post my cv anywhere I was after the low down on what I can expect regards pay and benefits. Overseas Media paints a bad picture of unemployment in the USA, is it hard in the arb world to get jobs especially in ct or ri state.

Any help wiu these questions would be appreciated

Cheers

Tree work has picked up here with all the storms we have experienced over the Spring/Summer. Not sure about CT but much of the country has been hit with storm damage. The economy and employment situation is still kind of in the toilet from what I can tell. I put an ad out for a ground man two weeks ago and got 35 responses... Never got that many responses from an employment ad... That's a lot of folks looking for work...

if you any good come up to just north of boston. wifey obviously like the northeast. there is a number you can call from to find out some more info in the employment forum.

Cheers for the offer but I am restricted to ct as wifey is going to uconn. 35 responses for a groundie is high! What sort of pay could a climbing arborist expect? Baiscally I don't want to get ripped off and I have no idea what is a reasonable hourly rate in the USA. I have worked in both the UK and NZ and found huge differences in pay

In my neck of the woods, a field working CA brings about 30 per hour. If your seasoned and have the CA. I would look into the big shows, sure they are always looking for pros.

Unfortunately, we have not seen a lot of action from the storms, here and there, sure. But nothing like what Rope and the others down there have seen, think TV got it real bad too over in Cinci.

Look up Sweet Tree Service, not sure how far they are from you, but think they are close. I don't know him, but do know he runs a nice deal. One of my Marines works for him. Says the guys is great, all his climbers are CA's and he makes the groundies start the process. You can find him on google.
