I'm in the market to buy a used grapple bucket for my Bobcat, I will mainly be cleaning up tree tops and brush with this, and picking up firewood when the ground is frozen or snowed over. What type of bucket do you use? I'm leaning towards the root grapple but I have a line on a nice Industrial grapple...any suggestions?

A root grapple is nice, especially if you're chipping the top's and brush. You can pretty much shake the dirt out of them. I assume you're not too worried about disturbing the grass from your post, if that's the case you'll want a bucket or blade handy if you need to smoothe thing's out when you're done.

I have an old Thomas grapple bucket and I like it pretty good. When you get used to it you can pick up most top's & brush without picking up dirt & rocks.
With this setup I can finish an area up and smoothe thing's out without having to carry an extra bucket to the job. The Thomas bucket is built pretty heavy, and stand's up to abuse well. I've put mine to the test for the last 5 year's, and it's still in good shape.

Yeah not worried about digging things up..at all, I'm using my low profile bucket now to push tops and brush, and it is ripping my Bobcat apart, broken headlamps and scratches everywhere including the glass, I'm just tired of it... to much money to let it get ripped up because I can't controll how the brush will go.
