I have been running a variety of bars (20 - 25") but not satisfied with how long they last. Any rec's? Opinions?
Thx

If you go with LCS (as I have several times), place your order by phone. Their "shopping cart" shipping method is UPS, which can be $$$ when shipping shorter bars. Ask about shipping cost by USPS Priority Mail and save some $$$.

GB are likely the best value with LCS prices. i get them to ship USPS too last time i ordered. for me i think the best bang for my buck was the tsumura's but the local dealer now beats the tsumura bars but with a stihl light. i would never switch back after running them. stihl lights are lighter, and the tips last alot longer. if you want the longest lasting a cannon will likely be it.

Sugihara, Tsumura/Total, Cannon... all good stuff. Can't speak for the GB bars because I haven't tried one, yet, but I've been led to believe they're in that same league of fine bars.

And on what?

Oilers Need to be up to it: not a MS311.
Yeah, the power in those 311's will tear up any bar:laughing:. Sorry hard to resist after that thread.

What are you doing with that little 350 :).

I prefer the ones I get for free, they last the best for me.
If I was cutting every day i would spend the money and opt for any of the japanese bars personally.
But I never wear them out as I normally get another one each time I acquire a saw, and I change saws like some people brush their teeth, once a week wether they need it or not.
I am curious though what the pros say.

Well, the pics of those two are from when they were new!

I've worn out the factory bars, but haven't worn out any of the high-end ones, yet. Oldest one is a Cannon bar on a 200T that's probably four years old. I've gotten lots better about taking good care of them. I flip them fairly often, dress the rails and make sure the oilers on the saws are pumping enough oil onto them. I don't let them ever touch dirt, and clean my saws religiously. Saws and bars/chains are expensive enough to warrant a bit of obsessive cleaning and maintenance. Well, for me they are, anyway. I live over on the po' side of town.

I have 3 total super bars and they are all holding up wonderfully. They are really not much more $ than oregon bars that seem to be made of swiss cheese. I think they are the best buy from a cost/durability standpoint.

I dont know if anyone here runs square chisel, but the grind (more or less cant on the bits can make a big difference. I cut with a guy who was trashing cannons every few months. Rails kept spreading. I like stihl es or es lights. Oregon power match or reduced weight. Never liked oregon pro much.
