a magnet is that all? I know a guy here in town who has done this.. Adds too much weight in my opinion, unless you can find a powerful little magnet.

A friend of mine takes magnets out of old hard drives... they are as thin as a quarter and very powerful... he glues one onto the back of his cell phone with shoe goo and can stick it onto any ferrous surface.. he drives an old volvo and doesn't need a phone holder..

is that the guy with the metal plate in his head?

imy silky stays in a buckingham leg scabbard quite well. there is a velcro strap at the top to hold it in while you climb out into awkward positions.

Heck, I can't even spell magnetical

The magnets from the hard drive are a good idea. I fitted some onto my carpentry belt a few years ago to have a place for spent screw, rather than mixed in with the new screws. A big, fat tape measure will stick to the magnet and ya gotta watch how close your hammer gets to it. If you're wearing a pacemaker you should be especially careful to not hold one of these up to your chest

I keep a few other magnets around the tree truck, welding magnets, because they otherwise just wouldn't get that much use. You can stick these babies to the roof of your cab. And magnetic-bottom bowls, pretty handy. Meant to add these to the 'Tips and Tricks' thread.

These little hard drive magnets, though, are well worth extracting. I use them in my tree tool storage to hold bar nuts as 17 nuts will stick to it. They've even got little hole so you can screw them to something for mounting. Haven't used one of these on my climbing saddle, but now I'm thinkin..... hmmmmmm... wireless scabbard for the 300 mm folding Silky Saw? -TM-
