Have shared my dilemma with the 025 on other threads, received advice and made corrections, yet it still persists to balk. Here's the changes:
Three new sparkplugs in the last two weeks
Put on good carburetor that worked well on another saw
Checked fuel line...okay - no cracks.
New fuel and air filters.
Tightened bolts on bottom of jug
Had to prime with gas to start the saw today. Ran perfect for 3 or 4 minutes and then died and wouldn't fire again. Acted as if there was no spark but a little gas prime in the carb and/or plughole caused it to start. Went through that process a half dozen times before I'd had enough rope pulling. Sometimes it would sputter roughly and then immediately fire and run perfectly for its alloted 3 or 4 minutes. I'm having a hard time finding a low idle and the compression also is not top end. That tells me that it needs rings (the piston looks real good) and also might be sucking air; making a lean mixture that causes it to idle fast.
When I pulled the fuel line off the carb tonite, gas spurted which tells me that the suction system is working well. I removed and checked the impulse line anyhow...looks good. Shall I suspect the coil or the compression? I think I'll look at the crankseals while I'm into it this far. Thanks.
