what radius from your base do you guys cover/work ..i work a 50 mile radius but i will go further afeild if the client sounds serious and not a price finder

The high end of my "normal" radius would be somewhere around 20 - 25 miles. I've gone further, but not very often.

travelling distances to work is no problem, we'll go anywhere, just price in the milage time and fuel accordingly.
where you lose is like you say, going to price the job and not getting the work.

I'm working about 350 miles from home, but it's a few-week job...

I am 30 miles from my regular full time job and have gone 20 - 30 miles past that for work. Most of my work is local 5 - 10 miles from home, but I have gone further to sub for someone that I know is a sure thing job and will pay for the extra travel. I did one job for family that was almost 400 miles from home but they let me sleep there and fed me dinner.

50mi, if more it would be a confirmed project with more than a days work. Most times it's within 25mi.

I only charge travel time when it's more than 30 min to get there. If not chipen then brush rate includes travel time.

30 miles for pruning.

20 miles for landscape installation.

40 miles for landscape design plans. But I will go 65 miles west to Seaside / Cannon Beach area for design plans, because I drive down there for pleasure every week or two. So it's a piece of cake to transport a digital camera, measure tape and wheell, and then take the finished plans back a couple of weeks later.

We go about 15 miles tops, but it could take an hour to get that far around here. Mostly within 5-10 miles though.

Man, you guys don't burn much road fuel, huh?

Try Texas for a little distance!

Got to roll-out of the cab and stretch a bit before starting. Going home is fine, but painful to stand upright after getting there.

Wish they made a 1.5 ton Ranger v6 4wd with a dump bed and chip box and towing capacity that ran on vegetable oil.

50 miles is 'normal'. Reality is that I do most of my work within 15 miles of home. Occassionally I go the 50. I've gone further for friends and I usually do some work when we travel to visit family.

Roughly 150 miles, but that includes everybody;

I try to stick to 50 miles or less.

i try to stay as local as i can, although i hit the rich areas when i can.diesel/petroleum $1-litre thats why,i can easily use 60-70 litres per day travelling.

25 miles should get me out to Bedford, Pound Ridge, Lewisboro, etc on the East. It should get me out to around the Hudson River on the West without any problems. North to somewhere in mid Putnam County. South to somewhere around Ossining / Chappaqua.

North, I don't mind going farther, because I am always going against traffic going there and coming back, plus fuel up there is cheap. South, I don't like because the fuel gets more expensive, and then traffic becomes an issue, as well as where to dump chips and wood. East, big $$$ so I don't mind. West, I'm not big on scuba tree work just yet, so the Hudson is just fine for me. I did go once last year and looked at a job to the NW of here. Gave it to another ArboristSite member because it took over an hour to get there.

Rocky's gotta Ranger!!

One thing I know they're good for - t-boning Chevy 1 tons at 70mph and keeping the driver alive. Well, sort of.

Son has one now 'cause of that. Wish I did still.

Miles depends on who asks I guess. For a special challenge there's no limit. Also what's going on at home..one of the joys of independence. Well, sort of. I guess if a climber got a call from Perth and lived in Hobart and had some time and a trailer to haul some brewskis and a surfboard....

Nathan went to Germany to climb some trees. I guess that's the milage champ so far. He's gotta come back though, to make it official.

perth to hobart is a long long way.with not alot in between, one of my freinds sold his car to go to the climbing champs,to my knowledge he is still world champion 80'pole climb, would he do it again he says no:rolleyes: is there anywhere to look at these records?
