WHAT WAS THE LAST GOOD POULAN, with mag case, pro quality? just wondering?

There are still a ton of the green super xxv, and yellow s25, s25da all over the place. Those were the first top handle climbing saws for many folks. One of the better saws they ever made. IMHO :)

Egads, I hope this is a late April Fool's prank!

the 505 wasn't an actual poulan but a jonsered in a bumble bee suit

True enough, but it was the LAST good Poulan in a lot of people's minds. Weren't the 455 and 655 developed by Pioneer which later became Pioneer/Partner which was then bought by Electrolux?

The last good Poulan designed saws were the 3000 family, which spawned
the 305,335,365 series. They reminded me of the Stihl 026 in some of their design aspects. Then of course the bean counters stepped in and Poulan
started putting bare bore cylinders on many models to cheapen them up
for the mass merchants.

It is a special hi sil bearing alloy.....I have been waiting for one to show up used around here from Tractor Supply to beat it up and test it out.

The theory seems sound as I saw lots about the hi sil cylinders and plated piston years back in merc outboard technical papers.

There was a brief period of this alloy in some dirt bikes in the 80s but the alloys were not good enough and the casting methods caused this arraingment to get a very bad rap. We went back to steel sleeves in the Kawasakis at the time
