Expert offers insurance tips as wind storm cleanup continues in Northeast Ohio

These 2 paragraphs stood out when I read it.
Jeff said the only time your neighbor would have to pay, is if you gave your neighbor a letter stating you believe their tree needs to be trimmed before it falls and causes damage.

If the tree isn't trimmed within six months, then falls, your neighbor would have to pay for the clean up. But maybe just a friendly talk with your neighbor is the way to start -- and if it’s your tree, be neighborly and have it trimmed, he said.

Firing off my letters to the 4 neighbors touching my property with those pesky untrimmed trees right now. Should get me safe through storm season! LMFAO Insurance agents offering half arsed advice like its gospel.

Poorly worded, but I am not sure that is too terribly far off. I think if the diagnosis is from a qualified expert it would carry weight in court. Otherwise, I am pretty sure a whining letter from one neighbor to another with nothing to back up their concerns would fall flat on its face.

I'm not sure where the guy gets the "trimmed in 6 month--or he's liable" stuff. Sounds pretty contrived. We've advised neighbors to to send certified letters stating their concerns when the neighbor is an obvious PIA. We also tell them that it will probably be the end of any neighborly relations. It's worked in two occasions and I don't know about the others.

PS I'm tired of building plywood roads up here in the great wet north. Hope you're working in the high and dry part of Akron.

Stopped home to get a quick bite to eat and see more rainy days added to the forecast. Thursday is now the only sunny day, think I will take it off to hang me and the ropes out to dry.:hmm3grin2orange:
