My homemade CSM is made with two steel rails held to a structure made from 2x4s by deck screws. One of those screws came out while I cutting today and it dropped the leading edge of the steel rail. I backed the mill all the way out, fixed it, took it in nice and slow, and finished the cut. The slab came out fine, The orange wedges in the pic mark the track the bar made before I noticed the problem.

I doubt I'm the only one who has pictures like this. Let's see 'em.

Like that boldness to admit a mistake cedar! That's how we learn from one another.

Haha oh man! No pictures, but I had a ladder support drop out on me and ruined a cedar 6x6. Not as bad, but still frustrating Eh. Good luck in the future cheers

Haha. Thanks. If I was a CSM Engineer, I would consider it to be a mistake. I'm just a tinkerer who's having a ton of fun experimenting and learning a new skill. I've got three screws now where there used to be one and one of those is 3" long. I'm going to replace or add more screws to avoid a repeat. Not doing that would be a mistake.

Been there done that. On a walnut too . We were cutting a specific dimension for a guy and that happened. At least it wasn't a big log.

I plan on making a thread about some of my rookie mistakes that are pretty embarrassing.

Speaking of walnut. I remember a tree of good size at my last job I think I could get boss man was always complaining about over his tank storage area. Limbs growing in to it and all the nuts. That would be a awesome tree for some furniture projects talland stright too.
