Working on a Skil saw, model 1616. The whole fuel line assembly melted to junk. What I need is the grommet that the fuel line passes through to seal the tank. Does anybody know where to get these or how to rig it up to work?

My 028 and 038 Stihls both have this grommet built into the fuel line and I'm thinking these might work but I'm not taking my Stihls apart for a Skil.

Some times I find

odd ball parts & pieces at Sears Hardware, & well-stocked smaller hardware stores. That only works if you're not absolutely wanting / needing the exact part. Do you know if your Skil is made by Skil, or is it a renamed saw? If it's made by a major chainsaw manufactorer the exact part might be easier to find. If the OD of the fuel line is a standard size, & the hole in the tank isn't some oddball size, maybe a piece from another manufactorer would work.

When I was working my Jred 670 the new fuel line I bought fit snugly in the hole in the gas tank, but I thought that an additional safeguard wouldn't hurt (I had checked the parts list, & it didn't show any type of grummet). Luckliy I found a flexible grummet that fit nicely in the fuel tank whole, but also gave enough for me to push the fuel line through. I do admit that I'd prefer a more solid piece less prone to deterioration; I'll check it periodically.

Chris B, I remeber seeing a Stihl fuel line with a built in grommet while I was looking though the parts bins for a hand held blower part. I will look again when I go back to work tues. night (I only do the power equipment thing part time) What size is the big hole? And how long do the legs on either side of the grommet need to be?

Sedan,

Hang on to that thought. I found a part at mfgsupply.com for a Mac saw that is a two piece fuel line and grommet. Looked like it might work so I picked it up. If not, I'll get back to you.

Thanks, Chris B.
