I was thinking about buying one that way I have one place for everything.
I was actually looking at maybe a old surplus web belt/suspenders and c1(fn fal) pouches for wedges.

Ive been keeping an eye out for older military/police tactical vests and belts. Found a couple this past summer that were ideal, but they were still $100+ and starting to show their age and use.

I just started out with one of these

Added one of these,

A grizzly peak axe scabbard, log tongs, tape, and a med kit. The barebones were definitely less than the weaver setup out the door, and better suited to my needs, not as pretty though haha.
Thanks, I’ll check out the Kuny’s stuff. Did you put suspenders on the belt? Looks like Kuny’s makes a padded set for the belt..
And how do you like the Grizzly Peak scabbard? I do like the idea of a leather scabbard, that is what got me onto Weavers in the first place.

Don't laugh, I put this one together recently...grizzly peak belt, axe scabbard, wedge holster, old true north drink holder, shoulder pad, and a spare set of climbing suspenders I had. It works well, I can keep some water, scrench, and a quick-clot bandage in the drink holder.20220909_141941.jpg

Weightlifting belts are comfy and well built, pretty cheap for what you get.

Here is an example.
You can add toolholders etc.

I love the grizzly peak, the rigidity makes it super easy to get the axe in and out and they're super cheap. The weaver is probably stiff enough to not have issues, but its not going to be better than aluminum.
I did go with those suspenders as well, which probably don't integrate quite as well with this setup as the weaver does, but again, its fine for me.
