I have been thinking about getting a ryans grapple for my mini. I have a root grapple. I can see how both have there draw backs.

Looking to get input on the ryans type grapples. Any draw backs over a root grapple?

I have both and use my BMG alot more than the bucket grapple. About the only time I use my bucket grapple is to clean out stumps that my log loader cant get to. My other grapple is the one that drags the brush and moves the wood to the log loader. I would call Dave at branch manager attachments and he will tell you the difference in the different makes. I dont care what people say about the power rotater, you do not need one.

I had a BMG and now have a Vermeer grapple. They are both similar in operation, however I find the Vermeer a little more useful in the fact that the head does not swivel on a knuckle. With the Vermeer grapple I can almost stand logs up for loading.

As far as a rotator, it's a neat idea, but for they very few times I have to get off the machine to turn the grapple, I don't think it would be worth the cost. Now if I was operating a skidsteer that I sit in, instead of stand on, I could see a rotator being more beneficial, as they are a little more difficult to get in and out of. Depending on where the arms are, it could be near impossible if not dangerous.
