We just moved into our house several months ago and loved the fact it has many mature trees. We cant wait to see what everything looks like when it blooms. Just after the last storm we had there is a lot of bark missing off one of our trees. We had two companies come and look, one said we needed to remove 3 trees and the other said we should only remove 1 and do some trimming. The one tree I had in question is not the one the second person suggested cutting. Please see the pictures below and let m know your thoughts. There are currently new buds on every limb, I know the picture is kinda dark.

Thank you

Welcome to AS @cc749. I don't think the tree in your pic will survive much longer. It definitely could be a hazard in a strong windstorm. I think I would check into removal. As far as trimming I would only do anything that might be a hazard like over your roof or drveway.

Thanks for the Welcome and the advice. Deep down I too feel it needs to go, but just hate to loose a wonderful tree like this. Either way safety for my family and home are the first concern. Maybe I'll have a few more quotes done. The two I got were so different in price and suggestions. Thanks again.

Make sure whomever you get has been in the business more than a couple of years . Research some reviews of any companies you may be considering. Look around your neighborhood and see if there are any homes that may have had tree work done and ask them who did the work and were they satisfied. Check to see if there is a state arborist association. They may point you to a qualified company . Keep us posted.
