I milled six one inch thick boards today, this is from stuff that I had started last year. I have a question on ripping chain (I use Carlton) I noticed on the Carlton Ripping Chain every other cutter is smaller in width plus different in shape, I have some Woodland Pro I bought at the end of last year, all the cutters are the same size so what is the difference?

Basically one is a Granberg style chain, left scoring cutter, right scoring cutter, then a clearing cutter (scoring cutters are thinner in width and the clearing cutter is full size with a 0 degree face) and the other chain you have is, well for lack of better description, the Oregon style where every tooth is the same.

Sharpening Granberg/Laser style chain is a major pain for no real noticeable gain.
