Here in NW Montana, the majority of our firewood is Western Larch, Doug Fir, and Lodgepole Pine. I've never cut/burned white pine before but found a dandy tree that would be pretty easy to get on USFS land. I had to hike up and put a tape on it...dbh = 49". There's plenty of good firewood available, but I'm really looking for an excuse to spend a weekend w/ that tree. Is it any good to burn, or should I leave it for the birds/bugs?? thanks.
