Looks like there is a rag in place of the muffler on the 7900, if he pulled the muffler it should be fairly obvious why it has no compression. E-bay, no thanks no matter who they belong to.

There's not much that would cause compression to drop so quickly, is there? Wouldn't it have to be either a broken piston or a broken ring? Seems like you'd pretty much have to assume that the cylinder and piston are toast.

Doesn't really make any differance why its gone, be broken ring, busted piston or toast, if the compression is gone its gone. Just odd the muffler is gone too. Maybe he took it off and had a look see in the exhaust, why do you think its off Space, you think as I do the seller already knows the piston/jug is shot. Can't figure why he said he didn't know why it lost compression..

I looked at them too..... mostly the 7900. Really, only because they are close enough to me to drive there to pick it up if i bought it.

It is also suspicious that he doesn't say who modded the 7900, as he did regarding the 5100S.......

Troll, look lower in the page.

Q: Who did the port work to the saw? Jun-20-07

A: The saw was ported by Rick Hennessee of TN.

Those saws are mine. I am done with dolmar that is why I have not dug into either one. I am just not interested in them, or Dolmar anymore. Anything else anyone wants to know? :)

If you look at the pic of the 2 saws together on a log in between both saws is the muffler for the 7900 it is there and so are the dogs, I pulled the muff and there is some scoring around the intake and some on the back cylinder wall. I could see that through the exhaust. I have seen much worse. The piston does not appear to have a hole in it or be grenaded in any way. Again that is all through the exhaust. I have not pulled anything else apart. I lost more money with this saw than I care to think about. I just want a big saw that works, like a 395 or a 660... Most likely a 660!

Both saws in the short time that I ran them were run on Mobil 1 2T and at minimum 93 octane, always fresh. The 5100 may need nothing more than a good carb cleaning. I didn't mess with it.
