Why can't we just leave them sitting?

I got another Remington SL14. Filthy, used motor oil in the oil tank, no fuel filter, fuel line in pieces, and did I say filthy. I picked it up for $5.00. I had no more need for this thing than I have for another saw of any kind. Stopped at the car wash and give it a good bath. So far I put one of my home made check valves in it, It had to have been smoking terrible. Had to make a side cover gasket. new fuel line and filter, rebuilt carb, good bar and chain, It runs, oils and idles great. The point is why do we have to try to bring a slow, noisy old saw back to life. Why can't I (we) just let em go to the landfill.

It's a disease LOL I have picked up probably a dozen of those $5 saws over the years. I spend some time a little cash and get them up and cutting. Then give them to a friend for a 6 pack, or free. Great hobby keeps me shy of the full collecting part of the disease.:hmm3grin2orange:

Ya'll are right

Yes, it is a addiction, But an addiction I like. Kevin, you're right also, I should take pictures of some of these old saws I bring back to life. Before and After shots. I'll do that from now on. I also know just the right young family that can use, and take care of this one. I'm going to call him to come and get it now. He's outta work and cutting firewood with a 026 I fixed to make ends meet. Now I gotta get out there and find another abused old clunker.

I have so many of those $5-$15 saws my wife just quit asking me what im going to do with them but you will be suprised there is always someone asking for parts you can make some money off them. There is always someone needing a coil or side cover etc......

I felt the bite of addiction when I bought my house that had a fireplace. Bought the 026 Pro, then joined this site and you people made me buy the 034, and I also acquired a basket case stihl that I dont even know what it is, its not complete. I never would have taken that basket case saw, (you guys made me) LOL. I always been a gearhead, never thought I would love tinkering with chainsaws as much as I do.

I'm the same as Bowtie. I just love to tinker with anything i can get my hands on. I've been cutting wood with my dad since i could run a saw on my own. But now that the wood cutting has become my 2nd and 3rd jobs, it's become an addiction. It's hard to go garage-saling with my Fiance' and not pick up a saw or two with out getting caught ( i've managed to sneek 3 past her, i got caught on the forth) None of them run... but i can't just leave them sit there.
