For those of you you who use bucket trucks, how much wind is to much when your trying to work? Is there a standard or recommendation for this?

I rented a 45 ft truck from an electrical contractor and did some trimming and removals last Sat. The trees and the bucket were both moving quite a bit as we got way up there. It was kinda exciting.

I would say anything over 20mph, could get risky, not saying you cant go up in more wind but anything over 20 is probably getting risky, esp if you arent experienced in what you are doing.

The truck has a 2 man bucket. I was heavy enough to stay in but the guy with me only weighed 230 lbs. He kept blowing out. I had him tied to the boom, he kinda heavy to pull back up.

If I could have waited it would have been nice but some of the work was in yards that were very frozen. Temps have risen significantly and we now have a rainy soggy mess. I am glad we got done even though it was windy.
