After a week of 0 degrees, working in 25 degrees in sweatshirts and being comfortable, you have to be on the North Coast. Pete

Winter in Wisconsin, now your speaking my language

Winter is sweet! Here's some pics my wife took of me cutting and packing out some Birch and Maple manual style. Even in the cold, sweatshirts are standard.

Just one more tree, Honey.

Nails, a little tip when using a saw in snow. When you set it down, turn it on it's side so it lays on the bar. Helps to keep that fluffy powder out of the fan housing. Either that or slap on the cover plate.

Thanks, I always pack down an area before setting it down just for that reason. Oh, I guess it looks like the saw is in the powder, not the case, it is on a walking trail. Wouldn't laying it on it's side cause the hot chain to contact the snow and crystalize in turn making it a biatch to sharpen?

O I do miss WI, the bright white winters, the hush of those snowy days, those pretty blonde Nordic damsels, the aroma of hot yeast and hops emanating from the breweries...

You still get that hoppy smell on 94 going past Miller, but it is the only oonee left.

My wife hates our "dumpy little house", but step out into the yard (1.56 acres in Franklin) and your in an Ansle Adams photo.

The snow's been thigh high, and sticking to the trees (several large (for MKE metro) doug fir and spruce). Dolce vista, almoost as pretty as her smile ;)

I was up north of Rice Lake once and the actual temp was around 15 below. I had every piece of clothes on that I had with me and I still was freezing. There were construction guys putting up a building with Carhartt coveralls, longjohns and flannel shirts. One guy told me "you get used to it". It's a strange and hardy breed living up that way but at least they don't turn English into a foreign language like they do over in the kettle area.

JPS I have a buddy in Delafield. Was there in the summer to go to Osh Kosh. Never been in winter. W ny has had good winter. Plenty of cold to freeze ground up and a lot of sun to keep spirits up. Lately a good coat of ice on driveways and yards - not much fun.

They've been turning the Pabst grounds into condos and such for years. The really bad one is Pabst Farms out in Ococo. cashed in a huge chunk of bean fields and they are making light industrial and retail in with all the McMansion Edifice Complexes.

All that is really left of the Blatz is the Brown Bottle, wich is now Liamio. If you've not been to the downtown/east side for a few years you will not recognize it. The courthouse is fully visible from the freeway, they tore down the Annex.
