Wayyyyyyyy up North
Knocked down a nice dry Spruce this morning, should do me for most of the coming Winter season. Was about 30" in the butt and ever so solid.

My friend and I used a Stihl 038 Magnum and my new Dolmar PS5100S; once I get the fuel line replaced on my Makita 6401 I'll be using that for wood this big. The 5100 did well, but struggled when leaning on the dogs in a tree this big.

Either way, what a great Spring we're having here.

That's hardly tough guys! Very enjoyable now that the snow has a crust on it and you can walk around in the woods without snowshoes.

Where's "wayyyyyyy up north"?

We're heading to Caniapiscau Quebec this summer.

Labrador. Similar, but quite East of the Caniapiscau region and near several major river valleys where the trees grow big.

If you would like any info on getting to the Caniapiscau or if you have any desire to go eastward, I would gladly answer any questions you have via PM. Beautiful area here.

I know it pretty well...The southern coast anyway. Spent some time in Newfoundland and the coast of Labrador in '05. We were in Labrador for a week or so but never got much north of Red Bay. Spent most of our time in Newfoundland.

When the third-leg of the Trans-Lab is finished we plan on heading that way again and doing the whole route through Lab City, Happy Valley/Goose Bay and back down south.

Here's a picture of the old truck we use on these expeditions on the Trans-Lab just north of Red Bay.

(Sorry about the hijack)

Neat, I agree that the best time to come back through would be when Phase III is completed from Goose Bay to Cartwright, but that will not be before 2009 probably more like 2010.

I work out of Goose Bay and the picture is taken on an inlet of Lake Melville called Kenemich, facing south GPS Coords N53°29'50", W 59°50'31"

The hills in the distance are the Mealy Mountains. which are in the process of being "Park-ized" which I am quite honestly on the fence about. Once Phase III goes through, it will pass just South of those.

Although I see plenty of FJ's / Land Rovers on the road each Summer, I'll take extra care to see if I can spot yours in the future.
