Hello everyone, new here and new to cutting wood and burning. Cut down a few trees I believed to be green ash but when I went to split them they were quite stringy and I have read ash is generally not stringy at all. Anyone have any insight

Ok thanks for clearing that up for me . In a pinch for wood this winter hoping to get enough of it.

I will try and get a photo of some leaves tonight. The wood split extremely easy It Was Just Rather Stringy And Had To Pull The Peices apart. The stuff I had sitting for 2 months was much worse than the stuff I had cut that day

american elm ??

Here's some pics pretty sure it's green ash. Not sure why that one particular tree was so wet though.20160901_183122.jpg20160901_190308.jpg20160901_183122.jpg20160901_190308.jpg

Those two pictures look different. The first picture the wood goes from light to dark to light wood but the second picture is just dark to light wood. The second picture with the leaves appears to be ash.
