Got called up for a tree that fell over. Turned out to be elm, so I quoted the guy $400. Buddy and I got it all cleaned up in 2 hours, and we split the wood and profits. $100/hour plus wood. Not bad for a morning's work!

I was afraid there would be a lot of rotten wood - hardly any at all. All good solid elm.

Not much left of the roots. Now here's a story about this I need to share. I wish I had taken a video. When we got the wood all loaded, I cut the stump in half - right through the dirt and everything. We were able to get the stump and exposed roots out by hand, except I used my chainsaw to bore into the ground and cut the roots while my buddy pulled.
I felt so evil and dirty while doing that, but I have a good excuse - the chain was the safety chain that came with the saw, and I'd been re-sharpening it for a while. Cuts well enough if it's sharp, but it was getting worn, and I was wanting to put on a semi-chisel. Now I ruined what remained of the safety chain, and now I can install the semi! (After I clean up the bar).

Woodpecker holes. They really got into a number of trees around here.

This is part of my half. The bigger chunks are in the trailer.

Since the tree had been dropping branches for a while, this is all the brush we had to clean up. Big chunks and stump are on the back.

Good deal. That's a win win for everyone involved. Seems like a decent price.

wow sweet deal. I should charge for cleaning up trees. most the time I do it for free.
