hay guys i think i found a splitter that i like it's from tsc it's a huskee 35ton with a 12hp bs engine. dose anyone have this machine? if so how is it?

the only thing i don't like about it from what i see is that the hot exhaust blows right into the i beam. and hope it's not to loud because it's right next to you.

but i bought myself a nice pair of Ao safety work tunes head phones. with built in radio so it should block that out. works good when useing my chain saw and nice to here the radio wile pileing wood ;-)

but this looks like a nice machine that i could rig a 4 way wedge and table id like to extand the base so it's biger in vertcal postion

thanks

Don't know anything about that splitter. Have a link?

Good call on the muffs. My homebuilt splitter isn't that noisy but I wear muffs when running it too. Same when on the rider mower.

I have a Briggs engine on my splitter. When I got it the exhaust was blowing straight out at me while I was standing at the splitter working. I bought a new muffler Identical to the one that was on it and bought the deflector that goes with it. Pretty much it has (I think) 3 evenly spaced bolt holes on the front of the muffler and you can deflect the exhaust any way you want by turning it. My engine on my splitter is pretty old but I am sure Briggs offers different types of mufflers for the engine on that splitter. I think mine had 2 or 3 different ones I could get for it. If you search Briggs an Stratton parts on the net there a number of good online parts places , and if you know the model # of the engine there are even some sights with parts manuals that will tell you what is available.
As far as the 4 way wedge goes I have used a friends he got from Northern Tools on my splitter for some straight grained rounds with out any issues. My engine is a 4 HP on my splitter which I plan on swapping out next year with a 6.5 hp Briggs. I wouldnt want to split any knarly stuff with it, but on the straight stuff it cuts the splitting time in half. I am in the process of fabricating my own 4 way slip on wedge. I will post pics when I am done with it.

like i said the only thing i don't like is the muffler is blowing right into the beam where it may blow back witch is right beside where I'm working

i don't like smelling exhaust ;-) maybe i could turn the engine to the right so it blows it front of the unit

thanks

I looked at one of those at TSC. Started it an ran it through a few cycles. The engine is relatively quiet for a Briggs but it is mounted on the wrong side of the I beam for me. Good horizontal/vertical splitter designs put the engine on the non-working side. Also, they claim 15 second cycle time but looked more like 20-25 seconds. With a 5 inch cylinder it should have a 22 GPM pump not a 16. That's one of the ways they keep the price down. Still though, even with all that, it not a bad unit. Search here and you will find that many people have had good luck with them. How much wood do you plan to split?

not sure about that madel either.

i have the 22 ton 6.5 brigs and it works better than expected.

I would not buy a splitter if the designer was so clueless as to put the hot exhaust onto the worker, who may be using this in the blazing sun all day.

But it does seem to be quite a good spec for that price. What kind of warrantee does it have? 2 year commercial use?
