Once I inhaled my first nose full, I wanted to mill every tree on the continant, then relocate to Europe and repeat the process again. Wood isn't toxic, but it sure is addictive!

I knew a few were nasty to be breathing, but to see Sassafrass as a direct toxin/sensitizer and all that was interesting.
I guess I should be dead by now.:msp_mellow:

I have been smoking for years and never really had much of a problem breathing until i started working in the tree service industry. Good excuse to get out of the biz. Well that and my now bad knees, bad elbows, shoulders, back...etc.

That table is right on the money. I cut 8 dead or dying Mimosa trees this past September and really wasn't feeling all that well after hauling 2 trailer loads off to the township chipper. The Mimosa caused my asthma to flare up really bad.

I stumbled upon this link by accident...all i have to say is WOW! I never thought of wood as being "toxic" I just cut down a sassafras last year...all I remember is how bad it stunk!

Cutting and milling wood gives one the itch to want to do it all the time...........nothing toxic bout that! (except perhaps explaining ones reasoning to the wife.........wont miss her at all!).

I see no mention of wild Black Cherry. Have read that stuff has some nasties in it.

I've heard old timers talking about Black Cherry occasionally laying someone out for a week if they weren't careful about it.
