I am the Tech. Writer for WoodMaster and I just thought that if anyone needed any "how-to" or other info about the Woodmaster family of heating products I would make myself available. I am not going to sell you anything though....so don't ask. Strictly INFO!

Glad you found the site and are willing to answer questions. I just drained my 4400 and refilled with new water. When I warm the stove before adding the treatment I build a small fire with sticks and paper so as to burn off some of the buildup inside. Last year I scraped the sides to knock down what comes off easy, blew the losse stuff out of the chamber with and air hose and sprayed it with oil. I am no :censored: tree hugger and am not going to act like one on here so my rust preventer was a quart of motor oil thinned with kerosene. WHich is a whole lot more than my dealer told me to do. he said scrape it out decently, take the ashes out, cover the stack and forget it. I noticed in your post below that you talked about elbow grease when cleaning out in the spring which makes me wonder if I am cleaning mine out good enough. Just how particular should I be about cleaning? The oil seemed to soak through the left over creosote and I noticed no coorosion. Thanks in advance.

I am one that won't take chances with corrosion so I probably get a little carried away with the cleaning. After the bulk of the ashes are removed and everything is cooled down...I take a shop vac to it. I pay especially close attention to the door and fan area...removing the fan cover, cleaning the fins of the impeller and vacuuming any creosote that may be left in the bottom area of the door where the air comes out. I also like to make sure that I try to get the area above the transfer tubes as clean as possible.

But that's just me.

Legally I am not going to tell you what oil to use...I can only suggest what we use here at the factory...peanut oil. Beyond that I cannot control what you guys use..if you know what I mean.
