I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to all you guys who have talked up your modified saws for so long. You have convinced me that I need modified saws more than I need groceries, electricity or money in the bank.
I had called Dennis about building me a Husky 335XPT and he offered me a deal on that Solo 633 he's had sitting around for a few months. I also had spoken with Dan about building me a Husky 335XPT, but decided to have him build me a 346XP instead (I don't think I need 2 modified top handled saws- YET). Within a couple weeks I will have the two fastest climbing saws in the greater Orlando area!
Anybody want to float me a loan to support my new saw habit? I'm already planning on my 3rd modified saw and haven't gotten the first two yet!

Be thankful Dan is such an honest guy. I almost had him convinced to ship that PP346 to me! ;) Looks like I have to wait another week.

Brian,

Dan will undoubtedly thank you for your switch to a 346. I hear those little 335's are a real pain in the arse to work on. Get as many modified saws as possible.

I was wondering when that was gonna start.
There is only one Husky dealer left in Orlando and he does not have a single pro (XP) saw in the store. Since Dan is building the saw for me I do not think manufacturing defects will be an issue, and I can buy filters and other maintenance parts online (the dealer certainly isn't going to have them). This will be the first Husky I've owned. I've run many working for other people, including a 3120 and an awesome 2101.

Treeclimber,

I do not want to stir it up too much but I am wondering why you need a modified saw to cut palm trees. I thought they were the only tree in Florida. I am sure it is a beautiful state but all you ever see in pictures is Palms and green grass. I do not see a need for speed.

Bill

There are plenty of hardwood trees in Florida. Just because all you see in postcards are palms that does not mean that's all there is. When my sister moved to California from New York she had me shoot a few rolls of film from around the area to prove to Californians that New York was more than the Manhatten skyline that was shown in all of the postcards from "New York" People saw those postcards and though the whole stat looked like NYC.

I regret to inform you that your saw will be about a week late. Thanks for the extra 50.00 Brian, your saw will be there in a few days.LOL

Bill
I had the same thought about the Florida trees, until I had my first visit there. They have many live oaks that are over 5 foot across the stump. They seem to grow rather odd, short on the stem and branch out and twisting in every direction that you can imagine.I think that those trees will yield more firewood in the tops then anything that we have around here.
Brian
Can you help us out with a live oak picture?

If you happen to get over to Brady's Power Equipment, you can let them know that there new PP066 will be there on Monday.

Here is a property I worked on a few months ago.

The southern part of the state is mostly palm trees and more tropical type vegitation.

Here's a fatty I climbed for fun with Mike Cross, monkeypuzzle and Greg.

You're welcome for the tip, Dan. I appreciate the quick service.

Dan, I was there last night and we talking about that saw. Seems the end user is open to making his first cuts with it at the shop on our test log!

congrats climber. nows u can really shed some light on these
souped up saws.i know the 026 is a performer. let us know by email if u choose how the 346 xp compares.as someone who uses these saws daily ,your opinion could really be more educated.

let us know bud.

Hey Brian, good to see you venturing to the dark side. i`m sure you`re gonna be happy with those saws. Russ

Thanks Russ,
I don't know what is taking Dan so long. He's had my money since Friday afternoon, for Pete's sake!

(Just kidding, Dan!)

I haven't seen Dan online much this week. He must be sweatin' over my saw as I sit here twiddling my thumbs. Hopefully he will be sending it out by the weekend so I can put it to work next week.

Still no sign of the lil Solo 633 from Dennis, either. He supposedly shipped it out last week. My new Echo isn't as perfect as my old one, threw it out of a tree from about 30' yesterday. I guess it learned it's lesson, it ran perfectly today. Good thing those Echos bounce well.

Speaking of Dennis, anyone seen him lately?

Got my Solo today!

Got the Solo 633 from Dennis today. Bad news is that someone helped themself to my saw for some cutting, covered the saw with crud and broke the handle. :( I'm going to try to see if it runs OK, even though I cannot throttle it very well with the handle flopping around. Hopefully there isn't any hidden damage.

I just went out and cut a piece of 3/8" automotive fuel line to shove into each end of the broken handle to act as a splint. The saw fires up OK and sounds like a badd MoFo! :blob2:
