Here's a sweet looking J'red 2153. Yeah it's a 346xp at heart....but this package is easier on the eyes if you ask me.

I cut the squish band on this one and did my standard woods port. It ended up at 175psi, with the exhaust at 100°.

It's pretty and all, I'm not a big fan of the turbo stickers, reminds me of a kid's hyundai accent with a whale fin on the trunk and a fartcan.

If something is really a turbo, you'll hear it. (God, I love the sound of spooling up)

very nice, other than the fake sticker.

luck,greg

Nuttin really special here. Just a quick slicking up after the port work.

Here's the reason I wanted to post this thread. I see this type of muffler mod all the time. Without some type of an insert to accept a machine thread this is a time bomb. It not a matter of if it will come apart but when. This saw might have a couple of hours run time since the muffler was done this way. I also think this deflector looks like #### on this muffler. :(

This is a piece of heavy gauge steel. I just do a little bending and make a simple deflector. The old hole was cut too low and will need to be closed up some....

Here it is after brazing and paint. The paint blushed in the night air.....I may need to recoat it tomorrow.

A spark screen can be added by sliding the screen inside the muffler at the rear of the deflector and screwing it on the two front corners. When I do use a screw in a muffler I like pan head screws that are used for metal stud work. They have a drill point and locking grip under the head.....they hold very well.

The carb has had the casting flash removed from the venturi and the shaft screws thinned. I've tried the 357/359 Zama carbs but.......they suck on a modded NE346XP.

I sure can.

Is that and OEM coil? I have never seen a 346 with that wrap on the lead, and I have never seen a plug cap like that on a 346 OEM coil.

looks like an aftermarket coil to me.

It is an aftermarket coil. The flywheel radius doesn't quite match the poles either....I would rather see a OEM coil on the saw but this one is working fine.

The term Turbo is overused, but it doesn't solely relate to automobiles. The little device under the hood of a car is really a turbosupercharger. This term was shortened to turbocharger for simplicity. The Germans call it a turboläder. Turbo is a prefix that has anything to do with a turbine. A "jet" engine is actually a turbojet. In this regard the Jonsered is a "turbo", in that it uses a turbine (the flywheel) to separate the dust from the intake air. ;)

BTW, nice thread Randy!
