Howdy all,

I'm looking for recommendations for a hitch cord that would work well on 9mm rope. I am also interested in recommendations for climbing hitches that are releasable under load.

Thanks

Hi, thanks for the reply. It will be a variety of type B semistatic ropes, such as the Petzl Push rope. The use case is in a cave, but i figured tree guys would know more about hitch cords.

You always want your hitch cord to be smaller than your lifeline, but most hitch cords are 8 mm, so there won't be much of a difference. It sounds like you will be using a single rope, so some sort of device like a hitchclimber will be necessary to keep the hitch from locking up. As far as hitches go, my favorite is still the VT.
