That is an awesome saw! With that much work done on it, will there be any logevity issues? I know that is probably irrelevant to those of you who are real good at saw building, but for me it would be a legitimate question. That is geat talent at work.

Well, this saw exceeded our expectations. I don't think it would be too awful hard to destroy a saw that two strokes at 16,000 RPM if left to rev too high for too long. That said, in general, modded saws work more efficiently and you can expect them to last longer. You'll definitely get more board feet out of a ported saw. Now, how long that is depends on how much you cut per year.

A few other comments about our build. I broke this saw in with Stihl orange bottle dino. After about ten tanks, I switched to Amsoil 100:1. Here is a pic of the piston.

One of the side of the piston and crank:

You can see there is considerable carbon build-up. Additionally, the side (and especially the underside, which is not shown) of the piston is discolored, showing that the piston got extremely hot. You can also see from this next pic that there was no sheen of oil left behind on the piston and crank. It was shiny, but I expected a thicker coating of oil to remain. I am not saying Amsoil is bad oil, but I will not be running 100:1 any longer. In the video, I am running 50:1 Amsoil in Cam 2 fuel.
