I wanted to use the Oregon DuraCut Chain on my NEW CS-4910, however, it only comes in .058 gauge (and larger), and my 4910 uses .050 gauge.

Is it possible to place a .058 bar on my 4910 and run that chain, or will it fail to connect properly with the rear clutch/sprocket. If not, can I replace the rear clutch/sprocket so I may use .058?

I have allot of 'smaller' dirty fallen trees, and know the current offerings of chains for my 4910 will be quickly destroyed, and the diamond variety is ridiculously expensive and impractical.

The Oregon site states the Duracut chain is available in .050 .325. Maybe you need to shop harder for the chain????

Thanks Roy.

I checked that link which provided a list of DuraCut chains as attached.. The ONLY one having an .050 gauge (M91VXL) is a 3/8 Low Profile, not .325. Also, ANSI rated max is at 42cc. My saw is 50.2cc and I’ll be felling trees, not bucking.

Unless I’m missing something, DuraCut appears unable to operate on my saw, unless I do things that would void the warranty.

Thank you for the link though, as it seems to verify my searches.

Sorry for the false alarm.

This number confuses me: M20-21-22BPX

It is mentioned on the Oregon site, but not listed in the list you have.

Be sure to report back on how the 058 chain holds up. I buck some skidded firewood, and it is sometimes super dirty. And, right now anyway, I have a 058 bar on a Husky.

DuraCut exists in a .325/0.050'' version with the designation M95VPX. Oregon 95 is a "narrow kerf" chain - the geometry of the cutting links is different from Oregon 20/21/22.

Does the 325 050 narrow chain run on the typical 325 050 bar?
Probably also unfortunately requires a matching "narrow kerf" bar, because the drive links are also different.
That is, there is no getting around in either case without a new bar.
Although it would be interesting to see how such a chain would fit on a "normal" bar, after all, the drive sprocket remains the same.
