What are the differences?

Thanks guys.

Either or, I have both, and both are great saws. 394 is a littler More torquey I think, They are both so close its hard to tell.

2? good for you  lol that's cool.

I thought the 395 would have had an inboard clutch, but I was suprised to find out otherwise... maybe the 4-series does?

any differences ergonomically? or are they,

um....the same saw??

Different transfers between the two.

The carb on the 394 is secured by two bolts through the inlet manifold to the cyl and get's it's pulses through a port through this setup.

The 395 uses a rubber manifold like other 3 series saws and has a barb at the base of the cyl to a hose to the carb.

I own two 394's and love them. They tend to be cheaper than the 395 used. 394 has no aftermarket cyl options if you were to ever need one. I personally used the oe cyl on mine but some like the aftermarket ones.
I have run both and its hard to tell the difference.

2? lol, I got 3 other 395's awaiting my time to fix. I just sold a nice 394 a couple months ago. But keeping 1 394. ergonomically they are essentially the same.

.....

If you want an inboard - think 390xp or MS660!

The 660 will of course punish you with its vibes, but some seem to be immune to that?

I really like my muffler modded 394xpg it puts a smile on my face in large wood every time :)

Yeah mate.
He bought this when working over in Asia 10 plus years ago. This 394 didn't come with the brake mechanism which would have been illegal to sell in Aus.

No brake on a 394??? Really? Never seen that before. I'm sure you could put one on it.

Look forward to seeing it!

The port and ignition timing is a little different between the two saws as well. The 395 has less blowdown time but more aggressive ignition timing. It's made for more RPM and a thinner torque band.

Both can be made into good runners with a little work.

Ya, I always felt that the 394 was a more torquey saw.
