Got this one at the same time as I did the new Poulan Pro 305.

Same deal as well, brand new never cut with but missing a few parts that were robbed by the dealer while they were on the shelf.

I had a few of the new parts it was missing like a OEM clutch drum, bar adjuster and air filter. It was missing the air filter cover and screw along with the bar plates. I put used on it for now till I come across new pieces for it. Had to paint a green cover black but it looks ok for now. Keeping a eye out for a NOS Poulan Pro bar for it as well.

Since it seems it was gassed at one time I went ahead and fired it up after I put a new fuel line on it. It started in 6 pulls and ran perfect. No carb adjustment needed.

Nice to hear it run but I'm on the fence on actually cutting anything with it. I dont need to so I might just keep it in a unused state.

Seems this one is a 1990 model and one of the last of a long, long line of the Poulan 25D that started in 1970.

Wow. very Nice mark. I wouldnt use it Id start it and run it but not cut. I have a newer one, 1986 I think, its been cut with but not much. The guy thought it was locked up, turns out a screw got jammed between the coil and flywheel.
That saw is something though and Ive heard Poulan stopped making it not because it couldnt compete or was not selling but because of the damn EPA!
Heres mine

Well Joe, nothing last forever but lasting as long as they did and the numbers which they were produced is quite a testment to them as far as I'm concerned.

There was nothing like them in 1970.

Im not so sure the EPA killed them, just a old design by then getting outdated by the new plastic fantastic saws and the fact they were under Elux control then.

I'm sure with a redesign with a bunch of plastic to keep the weight down and some designed in antivibe they could still be a top notch saw today, but then they would have to brand them Husqvarna as that was the brand Elux wanted on top.

This saw is the same as Mark's and all the other "super" saws, 38cc. Like a lot of the other brands Poulan played with the name or name sequence a bit along with the color scheme and some othe features.

That's really REALLY nice! Great score! I cut up proly a ton and a half of hickory with mine yesterday, before I switched to a larger saw, once i got into wood larger in diameter, but up to 16" it just keeps pulling. Very easy and pleasant to run, and I don't notice any bad vibes at all, compared to a modern saw, any of the ones I have. It has just enough functional antivibe to work, but still gives you a great positive feel.

I agree with the above, redesign the case and make it more of a more modern tophandle (the design to me is more of a tweener between top handle and rear handle), and it could hold its own.

I agree, but theyd never do it. Like mark said if Poulan made a modern, pro top handle 25 it would cut into Huskys profit. Kind of like how the PP330 just disappeared....
