Been on the lookout for one since I ran Modifiedmark's at the Ohio GTG at Boda65's. Thanks to Hanniedog for the heads up and to LowVolt for making the trip to pick it up and meet me in Northern Kentucky this morning to drop it off. Needs some small bits (muffler cover and bolts, one dog screw, etc.), but fires right up and runs good. Currently sporting a 32" bar and .404 chain. It has no decomp and is a bear to pull over.

Here are a few pics:

The top cover and the chain brake handle show some heat damage.

Rory shot a short video of it running last week and perhaps could post that (I think he is at the Bengal's game now).

Can't wait to get it in some wood, I will be carrying it out to the GTG at Wiggs's next month.

Nice find you sure don't see many around on the net. Must be kinda rare. Can't wait for a video.:msp_biggrin:

Guess I should have made the 4 hr drive and snagged it my self. Nice looking saw.

Gary, those muffler deflectors must have been a problem on these, mine was missing one as well when I first got it. Someone had made one from a steel plate with holes drilled in it.

I tried and tried to find a original deflector for it for quite a while till I accidently stumbled across a NOS one on eBay that had only been listed for like 10 minutes with a cheap BIN on it.

Here is what the original deflector looks like in case you forgot.

Glad you found one, those are pretty powerful saws and anyone who has ever ran mine never seem to look at a Echo the same way after it.

Good looking saw. An uncle has a John Deere branded Echo 8000 that I'm hoping to get my hands on.

Sweet saw, They are kinda an odd duck compaired
to other Echos with the upright cylinder but they run
real well. I have two and always like it when i get a
chance to bury them in some nice wood.

Congrats

Hey Mr. Salvage, I have an extra deflector from my 900EVL that I can send you. Also, if you let me know which fasteners you're missing, I may have what you need. PM me your address and I can get it out Monday.

My 900 has recoil problems but once I get it running, it's an awesome saw. I'd like to find a 36" bar for it. I've got a 24" on it now.

I have one of those as well, this is a picture Brad Snelling took of it after he picked it up for me. I have since cleaned it up a bit.

Thanks, PM sent!

I used Stihl fasteners on mine. I'll send you what screws and bolts I have left over but I'll see also if I have any Stihl bolts and screws that will work for you.
I have 4 used AV mounts that are still in fair condition. Do you want them? I replaced all 6 on mine and I have no need for the old ones. They're still in decent shape.
Also, do you want the spark screen? I didn't use it on mine.

Parts for these saws are not the easiest to find, I'm still looking for the 2 checkvalve springs for the manual oiler for mine. I found the check balls but have not found the springs yet.

I had to block the checkvalves off to disable the manual oiler for the auto to work on it. I received that saw without any oiler working at all, as someone had removed the checkballs and springs completely.

I have to say that had me stumped for quite a while till I figured that out.

Do other Echo saw share those same oiler parts? I might have a donor saw laying around that might have what you need.

I'm not sure. If any other models used that same separate manual oiler like that or not.

The check valves are in the two fittings that screw into the pump body and the inlet and output lines go to them.

Wow Gary it cleaned up well. That is just an awesome looking and sounding saw. I am glad I could help get it in the hands of someone that would appreciate it like you will. Badass, just a badass saw right there.

That was a REALLY nice find!

Whatever you do, don't paint it! hah

I have that same older style .404 bar on my Solo 603, pretty heavy once you get a chain on it.

Not as bad with a 24" bar. Love the sound of that thing.
