Poulan F 200W, Year made 1958 to 1960
82cc, Gear reduction drive, 1/2 pitch chain.

I have been looking for a poulan with the 3 bar stud pattern.
I had found two bars that would fit a 3 stud poulan about two years ago.
I got the saw last week. When I went to pull the starter to see how the
compression was it made a crunching noise. What looked like dirt was
comming out of the bottom of starter. I could see what looked like a
wasp nest in the exhaust opening.

Well I started taking it apart and found a bunch of nests
some looked different. They were even in the air filter.
The saw as good compression but no spark. So I tryed
cleaning the points.Still no go. So I changed out the points condenser
and coil. Then I Cleaned the saw and all its parts. Soaked the carb in
cleaner and installed a carb kit. Put new fuel line and fulter in the tank.
The fuel tank was real clean inside. Also put new oil pickup line in the
oil tank. Its now ready to run, Heres some pic's

Very cool Mr. Bow Saw. I have never seen 3 bar studs on a saw. Is the exhaust missing a deflector? It looks like something mounted on the muffler housing.

Man, looks like you found a bunch of dirt daubers. Here in the south we have those and they are a type of wasp that may or may not have a stinger. They will pack mud into any orifice they can find and then lay eggs in there.

Great looking saw....

Only good thing about a mud dauber is that each cell that has an egg in it will have a spider for food when the egg hatches.

Great job on that Mr. Bowsaw:clap:
Something tells me that it looks better now, than it did when New.
Never had the guts to try my hand at fixing one of those old beautys.
Allways affraid I would just end up with a big aluminum door stop..:)
Ammazes me, what some of you fellas can do with an old saw!!

Gregg,

Awesome job, You are the man when it comes to bow saws. Very nice saw.

Thanks.....

Hey Cliff, that is one fine looking piece of vintage saw. The red fuel line really sets it off, beautiful work.

Did you resolve the spark issue and manage to get it running?

Love the ingenuity of the double ended bar, engineering thought processes certainly were different in those days!

Cliff, that thing is freaking awsome! Good job.

I really look forward to seeing your restorations, very fine work. The dedication to the relics is readily appearent.
