I opened up my stihl 036 and there is nothing inside of the muffler. I was assuming i would find a bunch of useless parts inside, but I did not.
My question is would it be beneficial to do a muffler mod in this particular instance?? I was reading about a 034 and the guy had the same situation as me and the people in that thread said not to do anything. I've been doing a lot of reading and people say that no more than 80% of the area of the exhaust opening to the muffler should be cut open so there is still backpressure for the 2 stroke to operate. (I have understanding of how a 2 stroke works) I'm kind of stuck, i see a LOT of people do muffler mods to their 036's and i was wondering if mine was one of these situations where my saw was made Pre-OSHA bullcrap.
Please let me know what you think and I appreciate you guys's input, I've been reading around on this site for over 2 years and finally signed up a while back and I have read and read and have learned more than i ever imagined about chainsaws Now if my wife would let me start collecting more saws I could join the CAD club
