I also run this in the Milling section, More people on Chainsaw side.
If anyone knows if this will not work (Lake), I would like to know.

I know I can buy a Picco drum sprocket from Logosol for 064,066 and 660
But with small logs IMO the 066 is to much saw, I can push harder, cut
faster to put a load on the saw but I think it wears the bar to much in a
small area of the bar plus a MS660 $$$. Milling small 14" or less Eastern
Red Ceder with Picco chain I could use a smaller saw. I have milled 12"
ERC with my 026 using Picco BC. So I can buy Picco sprockets for 026/260
not enough saw and 064/066 IMO to much saw. I think I have come up
with away to run Picco BC on my 361,440, and 460. (jumping around now)
034/036 did use a rim sprocket drum that used same ID rim sprocket that
the 026/260 (their are many others, Stihl only uses two ID rim sprockets)
Later Stihl changed the clutch drum on the 034/036 to use the Bigger
ID rim sprocket, Picco rims that Stihl sells only fit the small ID. Today
I bought a new clutch drum rim sprocket kit (old style, small ID rim)
But drum depth is to long by 0.10, I could grind it down but think I will
wait until I'm at work and can use the lath. I will let you know how it
works out. If it works, it should work for 360,044,046,361,440,441, and 460

Oil worm gear lever, will need to be recut in drum.

Drum on left is MS361.............Right is old style for 036

You can see when change was made to bigger rim sprocket ID that beaning
dia was increased

As you might now know, the 361 drum is in fact an 044/440 drum... and the depth IS different to an 034/036/360/029/039 (yep) etc. If you put the deep drum on a 361/044 etc you'll trash the oil pump/drive.

So.. yes, you can turn the 036 drum down (and re-notch) to fit a 361/044 etc. I've down that on similar drums before. Check the depth of the bearing support depth - you might need to skim that down from the inside also.

The bearing will not last. Check it and grease often... and try to find the steel cased version - not the plastic.

The orginal PDF on the 036 change is enclosed.
