I started this a long while back, when we got a CUDA parts washer at work. So I tore down this old old 066 to rebuild and clean up. This was a very early version of the 066 saw, and was hamered pretty bad, but still had a good crank in it.
I cleaned it up and here are some before and after pics.

After the CUDA...

It really does a good job.

So once I had the new top end and seals on it, it wouldn't even pop. Plenty of compression, spark present, swapped on another carb, no crankcase leaks...
So I let it sit for several weeks and last night on the way home it hit me that the flywheel has two keyways. So I pull off the stater and shroud and put the piston at TDC and sure enough the magnets are way past the module. I removed the flywheel and put it in the other keyway and the saw started on the second pull! And just sat there idling perfect, revs up smooth.

I feel stupid since I should know better, but anyway it runs now so just some detail work on it and then I can move on the the next project, a minibike for this engine:

I put a tach on this thing and held it wide open against the governor and got scared and let off at 11,000 RPM!!!
In case you don't know this is a Wankel rotary engine.

That thing really cleaned up nice. Does most of the credit go to the Cuda Cleaner? I have never seen or heard of one of those things.

Great looking small engine. Good luck on the next project.

What the heck is up with the bottom part of the clutch cavity. Looks like it has been eaten away.

Wow, what a cleaning job. I wish I knew someone with one of those.

Think of it as a $3000 dishwasher for engine parts. It uses a caustic powder in heated water, and you can also open it up and use a brush and hose to clean by hand.

I suspect it tossed a clutch shoe retainer and it rolled around in there for a while. Someone replaced the pump and I put in a new clutch and so it all works OK now.

Your not kidding, the Cuda is da machine. The one we got at the shop brings
in $25.00 a pop for cleaning. People think the results are well worth it. Some even bring their saws back months later for another cleaning and shell out
$25.00 like its nothing. Best of all is the look on customers faces when you've repaired their saw and cleaned it in the process. Their like thats my old saw, I can't beleive it. All saw shops that does alot of saw business should get a Cuda. It will pay for itself in no time and make your shop well known in the area as the place to go for service. People love da Cuda!!

Nice work that saw is ready for action now! The Sach motor is nice. I know they made a wankel for a snowmobile but I have never seen a picture of a Sach wankel. We had a big parts cleaner at one of the shops I used to work for and it saves a lot of time and elbowgrease and works good on floormats too.
